Sarina Bucher is CEO and co-founder of Eule27 AG, a Swiss software company specializing in optical thin film engineering for closed-loop coating processes. Based in Zug, Switzerland, Eule27 develops production monitoring software that performs real-time reverse engineering of layer thicknesses from interference spectra, including optimization of optical material parameters. Ms. Bucher brings extensive hands-on experience in optical interference coatings for architectural glass, display technology, and solar applications. She co-founded Eule27 in 2024 and assumed the role of CEO in 2026, after holding a senior position in the software industry.

Prof. Pascal Buskens

Pascal Buskens studied Chemistry at RWTH Aachen University. After his study, he performed his PhD at RWTH Aachen University and the University of Oxford in the United Kingdom. In 2006, he started working for DSM in The Netherlands as scientist in the field of nanocomposite coatings. In 2008, he became head of the Functional Coatings/Advanced Surfaces R&D group at DSM. In the period 2006-2011, he was involved in the commercialization of three nanocomposite coating products: one non-biofouling coating and two anti-reflective coatings. In 2011, he started working as senior scientist at TNO. He now works 4 days per week at TNO as principal scientist in the field of nanocomposite coatings, primarily focusing on optical applications. For one day per week, he works at the University of Hasselt as guest professor. He is (co-)author of >40 scientific publications, inventor on >20 patent applications and participated in several international research consortia.

Prof. Dr. Şener Oktik

Şener Oktik, a professor at Maltepe University in Turkey, holds a PhD from Durham University (UK) since 1982. His diverse career spans academia and industrial research, including roles at BR Research Centres (UK) and Sisecam Research Development and Design Centre (Turkey). His focus lies in inorganic/organic material growth processes and their characterization, with an emphasis on developing novel materials for energy efficiency and harvesting. His work encompasses emerging semiconductor materials for photovoltaic applications and coatings for industrial glass. Oktik’s expertise is recognized internationally through memberships in prestigious organizations such as the International Commission on Glass (ICG) and the Society of Vacuum Coaters (SVC). He also serves on advisory and scientific committees for conferences and societies like the European Photovoltaic Solar Energy Conference (EU-PVSEC) and the European Physical Society (EPS) on behalf of the Turkish Physical Society.

Mustafa Ozan Özer

Mustafa Ozan Özer holds degrees in Materials Science and Engineering and Ceramic Engineering from Anadolu University, complemented by international research experience at Institut National Polytechnique de Grenoble. He has built his career at Şişecam, one of the very few global companies active across all core areas of glass, with a market value of over USD 3.3 billion, more than 23,000 employees, and a production footprint spanning 14 countries across four continents. For the first 15 years of his professional journey, he held leading roles across glass processing and coating operations, progressing from Production Engineer to Production Manager. Over the last four years, he has served in senior leadership roles at Şişecam R&D Center, first as R&D Coating Technologies Director and today as R&TD Product Development Director, contributing to the company’s innovation and value-added product portfolio.

Silvia Schwyn Thöny joined Evatec’s R&D team in 2010 as a Principal Scientist. She has a strong background in various thin film deposition technologies, with a focus on process development for applications of optical interference coatings in consumer and precision optics, to which field the topic of the Quantized Nanolaminates belongs. Lately she is also involved again in the sputter deposition of epitaxial materials used for their waveguiding and electro-optic properties, a topic which she was investigating already in her Ph.D. thesis, which she received from Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, Zürich, Switzerland.

Dr. Sudhansu Shukla

Sudhanshu Shukla is a senior researcher at Interuniversity Microelectronics Centre (IMEC), Belgium. He was also a Marie Skłodowska–Curie fellow at IMEC. He obtained his PhD from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore in 2017 working on earth abundant materials for thin film and mesoscopic solar cells. He was a visiting research scholar at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL) and the University of California, Berkeley, USA (2016). Before joining IMEC, he was a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Laboratory for photovoltaics at the University of Luxembourg (2020) working on wide bandgap chalcogenides for tandem solar cells. His research at Imec focuses on fundamental understanding and application of novel compound semiconductors for direct/indirect (photo)electrochemical scalable solar-to-chemical production. He is coordinating a European project (PHOENIX) and leading/co-leading several national projects on solar fuels and waste valorization.

Since 2012 he works as a senior scientist at the Max Planck Institute of Quantum Optics in Garching b. Munich. Since 2023, he is CEO of OTF Studio GmbH in Garching. Dr. Trubetskov specializes in thin film optics, coating design and characterization problems, optics, electrodynamics, applied mathematics, laser science in bio medical applications, computational mathematics and physics, machine learning and data science, computer science, software development, and parallel computations. Dr. Trubetskov has more than 300 publications and his h index value is 37 according to Scopus.

Prof. Jaroslav Vlček

Jaroslav Vlcek is Professor of Applied Physics at the Department of Physics, Faculty of Applied Sciences, University of West Bohemia in Pilsen (Czech Republic) since 1997. He received his doctorate in Plasma Physics from the Czech Technical University in Prague in 1986. His research activities are focused on processes in electrical discharges (plasma diagnostics and modelling), plasma-surface interactions, novel plasma sources for film deposition (e.g., reactive high-power impulse magnetron sputtering) and magnetron sputter deposition of novel thin-film materials (hard and thermally stable protective coatings, and functional oxide and oxynitride films). He is author or co-author of more than 150 refereed journal papers with 5000 citations in the WoS database, his H-index is 39.

His primary role was to establish a new production line for the technological process of sol-gel coating on glass. Currently, he is working as a Chief Scientist on technological advancements and new product development for both vacuum and chemical coating lines.

Bastian Zeis studied Mechanical Engineering with specialisation on Aerospace Engineering at the Technical University Dresden where he completed his Diploma thesis entitled “Design of a Low Power Electron Cyclotron Resonance Ion Source with Beam Optics” in 2021.
Currently, Bastian Zeis serves as a process engineer and PhD student at the Fraunhofer Institute for Electron Beam and Plasma Technologies in the working group for electron beam and boat evaporation on flexible substrates. His PhD research focuses on electrostatic charging effects and discharging phenomena that occur during electron beam evaporation on polymer substrates.

Dr. Martin Zubkins

Institute of Solid State Physics (ISSP), University of Latvia, LV

Martins Zubkins is a leading researcher and Head of the Thin Film and Coating Technologies Group at the Thin Films Laboratory, ISSP, Latvia. He obtained his doctoral degree in Solid State Physics from the University of Latvia in 2018 and has extensive expertise in the development of functional thin films. His research focuses on metal oxides, hydrides, and mixed-anion compounds, including photochromic thin films and ultra-wide bandgap semiconductors. Dr Zubkins specialises in the synthesis of thin films by magnetron sputtering and investigates their properties for potential applications in smart window and optoelectronic devices. His work has contributed to advances in thin film science and has resulted in more than 42 scientific publications (h-index = 12, Scopus). In addition, he holds European patents on innovative deposition technologies and thin film materials. Since 2019, he has also been an active lecturer at the University of Latvia, sharing his expertise in thin film science and deposition technologies with the next generation of researchers.
